Field Drilling Engineer
Brunel’s global Oil & Gas Operator client are seeking an experienced Field Drilling Engineer for a 12-month contract working offshore on the North West Shelf. The role will initially be based in Perth before transitioning offshore mid Sept on 28/28 rotation FIFO back to Perth only.
The successful Field Drilling Engineer will work closely with the Drill Site Representatives, D&C Engineers and D&C Superintendents as part of a rig-based drilling execution team involved in exploration, development and well abandonment activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for daily compilation of Well View reporting for well.Develops rig-based plans of action (POAs) with procedures and risk assessments to ensure sound well site engineering, lessons learned and best practices are applied during well execution.Tasked with the entry of lessons learned to allow bi-weekly reviews, hole section reviews and aid in the End of Well Lookback. Reviews past lessons learned and ensure these are incorporated into current POA’s. Prepares, in co-operation with the DSRs, casing landing details and other technical well records such as cementing procedures, casing tallies, hydraulics analysis, etc.
Supports and ensures consistent use and application of drilling engineering tools, programs, processes and standards as well as engineering designs and cost estimates across the Drilling Engineering team assigned to the well.Liaisons with the Project and Operations Engineers in the office for total work effort, additional support, and technical counsel.Leads POA review meetings, attends Hole section previews, assists with Lookback (debriefs) on rig and capturing Lessons.
Coordinates technical issues and efforts between office and field. Reviews, in co-operation with the DSR’s, POAs with the office staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must have strong computer skills: Well View, Excel, Word, Office, Viso.Develop Rig based Plans of action from P&A program under direction of DSR and owns Data repository for all well records on site, including Test Charts, Video monitoring, Pressure gauge records, photo’s, lessons learned.
Checks and ensures Consistent use of Engineering Tools, programs, process’s and standards. Can double check well calculations for volume, depths, pressures etc.Strong Interpersonal skills, Coordinates technical discussions between office and Rig, understanding of efficiency principles.
