POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Site CSU Manager, the Mechanical Commissioning Engineer will support the Field Commissioning and Start-Up activities on Exterran projects in Oman.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports to Site CSU Manager in an EPC environment
- Review engineering documents to understand the scope on projects
- Systemization of Scope
- Understanding of Commissioning Sequence and Start-Up sequence
- Assist in population of Commissioning data bases
- Develop Commissioning Procedures
- Develop Start-Up and Performance Test Procedures
- Interface management with client for effective management of Start-Up and Performance Testing activities
- Project resource requirements in terms of manpower, tools, consumables etc.
- Optimization of water treatment equipment and processes
- Trouble-shoot equipment problems; assist in identifying root cause

- Demonstrated Mechanical Aptitude
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
- Strong technical writing skills and data analysis skills
- Excellent impersonal skills; especially with managing field operations communications
- Good problem solving skills
- Ability to read drawings (P&IDs, GAs and PFDs)
- Computer skills, specifically regarding Microsoft Excel, Word, and MS Project is an asset
QUALIFICATIONS – EXPERIENCE – SKILLS
- A university graduate in engineering in Chemical/Mechanical disciplines or equivalent
- 5 -7 years’ experience in Field Commissioning activities
- Plant Start-Up and Operations experience asset
- Knowledge of chemical treatment and lab analysis
- Mechanical assembly & fabrication experience
- Knowledge of rotary equipment an asset
- Working knowledge of controls and automation

Physical Demands
- Requires employee to frequently type and use a computer and other office equipment, such as copier, printer, calendar, telephones, etc.
- Requires operation of heavy equipment, such as forklift on a rare frequency
- Requires employee to stand for at least 75% of the time
- Requires employee to sit for at least 25% of the time
- Requires employee to constantly climb stairs or ladders to inspecting, repairing and painting equipment and must be able to maintain balance on stairs or ladders without assistance.
- Must be able to communicate and respond to: coworkers, customers and emergency cues/alarms, in person and on the telephone, including use of mobile devices
- Must be able to frequently lift at least # 5pounds
- Requires work in outdoor conditions, including Extreme heat, extreme cold, unairconditioned facility, snow, sandstorms, sun exposure, strong wind
- Requires work on loud environment
- Requires moving and maintaining self in different positions stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
- Must wear all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing, helmets, face shields, hearing protection, safety goggles, steel-toed boots, as applicable.
- Position requires travel 10% of the time
- Position requires employee drive 25 % of the time, 5% permanent in one location.
